BJP slams Election Commission for censoring its TV advt
A TV advert by BJP for the Karnataka election has been censored by Election Commission. In the TV ad, Sushma Swaraj had blamed UPA and Congress (I) of mismanaging the economy and for inflation. BJP indirectly accused individual member of Election Commission for favoring certain parties.
In a strongly worded letter to EC, BJP wrote that the EC order violates Article 19(1)(A) of constitution which refers to freedom of speech.
BJP wrote that individual views (of individual member) of the commission cannot dictate the EC. It also said that EC is a facilitator of election in democracy and not a oracle.
