Google supports 5 Indian languages
Google has come a long way from its first Indic transliteration release to the current support for transliteration in 5 languages — Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Tamil and Telugu — for a broader set of Google products. Google also released its very first English to Hindi translation service. Indians can now use these services to create, communicate and search in the 5 languages offered by Google.
One can now also try out googles brand new English to Hindi translation service, and the translated search feature that lets you query in Hindi, obtain search results for the translated query in English, and then see the Hindi translations of these results. Google release sad that, of the total literate Indian population, only about 13% are English literate. Keeping this in mind, this launch is a step towards ensuring that Hindi speaking users in India can benefit from the richness of the Internet, regardless of their familiarity with English language.
If you would like to express your views on a subject you’re very passionate or knowledgeable about, you can create your own blog and write blog posts in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam.
Google now makes it easy to search for the latest election news or film gossip in Hindi. Go to the Google Hindi search page and simply start typing your query using English characters. Google will convert it into Hindi and suggest queries based on what you type. For example, if you want to find information about Amitabh Bachchan, you can simply start typing “Amitabh” and Google will suggest the full term in Hindi for you.
