Kirloskar Brothers Reorganizes Business Structures, aim turnover of over $1 billion by year 2011

Kirloskar Brothers Ltd. a leading global water management solutions company, today announced that it is reorganising the structure as business specific verticals which will be effective from 1st week of June 2008. This structuring of business verticals is in tune with KBL’s vision of becoming the first five global water management solutions company that includes manufacturing of pumps and to achieve the turnover of over $1 billion by 2011. The overall business is now going to be regrouped into nine business sectors, dealing in products, services and systems. These groups are Irrigation and Rural Electrification - All major and minor Irrigation and Rural Electrification works, Water Resource Management -Water supply, water treatment, Sewage treatment & Sewage pumping stations, Desalination plants, Oil and Gas - Refinery, Petrochemicals, Fertilizers, Oil & Gas Exploration and Transportation, Distribution, Power, Industry, Building and Construction, Marine and Defense and after Sales Service.

Commenting on the new changes, Mr.R.K.Srivastava, Whole Time Director, KBL, said “The objective of the change is to ensure that each sector is served at the highest level of operational efficiency and to enable KBL to provide best customer service. All these nine sectors shall operate as Profit Centers, independently looking after sales, marketing and execution and financial recovery etc.”

In addition, following Corporate Functions have been newly formed. The Corporate Global Sourcing function will focus on Sourcing, Procurement of Capital Equipment, Pricing, Planning, and Vendor Evaluation, for procurement of commodities at global level, common for all manufacturing and all imports.

Corporate Business Development and Strategy function shall be responsible for Mergers & Acquisitions, New Business Initiatives, Brand building and promotional activities.

Corporate International Division shall be renamed as Corporate Global Marketing and shall be responsible for market intelligence - domestic and international, developing business.

Kirloskar Brothers Limited (KBL) is the largest pump manufacturer & turnkey contractor in India with a consolidated turnover of more than Rs2,000 Cr and a growth of 15% over last fiscal year. It is rated among the top 15 global pump manufacturers. KBL is the first Indian company to launch FM approved & UL listed fire fighting pumps and to receive a U.S patent for Novel Energy saving concept in pumping. This year, the company has acquired Gondwana Engineers, a company that specialises in water & wastewater treatment and Kolhapur Steel, a mini steel plant with a production capacity of 500 MT per month. KBL has also acquired Chennai based Construction Company named Aban Construction Limited now known as Kirloskar Construction & Engineers Ltd. These acquisitions are a step towards company’s objective of becoming a complete water management solution provider company.
