Photos of Sikh terrorists Banned at Calgary Nagar Kirtan
Following in the footsteps of Sikh Community in Toronto, the management committee of Dashmesh Cultural Center (Martindale) intervened to remove a float with pictures of Sikh terrorists from the procession this past week during the Vaisakhi Nagar Kirtan. The float was organized by volunteers of the Sikh Federation and was displaying pictures of various dead Sikh terrorists , including Bhai Beant Singh, Bhai Satwant Singh, Bhai Kehar Singh, Bhai Sukhdev Singh Sukha and Bhai Harjinder Singh Jinda.
The management committee was always reluctant to allow the float to take part in the procession, but after protests and delay, the float finally took off. But it was soon asked to change route by the Calgary Police on the behest of the Gurdwara Committee. The terrorism promoters who had no other option, opted to park the float by the side where they told the sangat passing by the what the committee had done. Later, the float was taken to the parking lot of the Gurdwara Sahib where Sangat is always present in large numbers during nagar kirtans and pictures of Shaheed Singhs were put on display.
The float was created by a group dubbed Panthics which want to recreating terrorism is the peaceful and prosperous state of Indian Punjab. The management committee, along with the Calgary Police, succeeded as during the finalization of the procession, sevadars moved pictures of Sikh Shaheeds inside the Darbar Sahib and occupied the stage. The Panthics then had to desperately resort to Slogans.
