Southern Naval Command celebrates World Hydrography Day
The World Hydrography Day was celebrated by the Southern Naval Command on 21 Jun 08. The theme of the celebrations was “Capacity Building, A Vital Tool To Assist The International Hydrographic Organistation In Achieving Its Mission And Objectives”. A variety of events were organized by the Hydrographic Surveying ships of the Southern Naval Command.
A presentation cum exhibition on survey activities and capabilities of the ships was organised on 21 Jun 08. Cmde SK Jha, Commanding Officer, INS Venduruthy was the chief guest for the function.
The Command Hydrographic officer, Commander Rajesh Bargoti welcomed the guests and introduced the audience to Hydrography. The presentations included Role of Hydrography, activities of various units and India’s role in the International Hydrographic organization. In addition to the presentation cum exhibition, the surveying ships of the command were thrown open to students 21 and 22 Jun 08. Students from St. Xaviers School, Angamally and St. Theresas, Kochi visited the ships.
