Union Cabinet revokes Presidents rule in Karnataka
The Union Cabinet has decided to ask the President of India to revoke the proclamation issued on 20th November 2007, under clause (2) of Article 356 of the Constitution of India placing the State of Karnataka under President’s Rule.
The presidents rule was imposed as the Karnataka state political parties were unable to form a government due to fractured mandate in last elections. This time the BJP emerged the largest party with 110 seats in state assembly polls.
Bharatiya Janata Party on Monday mustered support of five more seats and presented them before Governor Rameshwar Thakur to stake claim to form the new government in Karnataka.
