A Pakistan infiltrator was captured by the Indian army in the Uri sector of Jammu and Kashmir during a recent infiltration bid that was going on since September 18-19. As per the army sources, the captured 18-year-old Pakistani terrorist, identified as Babar Patra, is affiliated with Pakistan harboured terrorist group Lashkar-e-Toiba.

On 26 September 2021, the Indian forces killed another Pakistani guide, Qari Anaz (33), when he opened fire at the army search team. One AK-47 rifle, two grenades and one communication set were recovered from the captured terror operative by the forces.

Six terrorists were attempted to infiltrate from the general area of Pakistani post Jabri. While two terrorists were crossing the Line of Control (LC), their own patrolling party contacted them during the infiltration attempt. Although four terrorists ran back towards the POK side of LC while the remaining two managed to enter into the Indian area taking advantage of the thick undergrowth. Multiple patrols were launched in suspected areas, along with getaway routes being blocked by the additional forces inducted.

One such patrol was able to re-establish contact with the terrorists on the night of 25 September 2021. A Pakistani terrorist, Atiq ur Rehman, Qari Anas (33), belonging to Punjab (Pakistan), was eliminated by the afternoon of 26 September 2021. The second Pakistani terrorist, named Ali Babar Patra, appealed to surrender and was captured alive by the Indian army, causing no harm to him.

The terrorists chose the route of the Salamabad Nala to infiltrate, which was earlier used for the 2016 suicide attack on the Uri garrison.

The captured terrorist said that he was being trained for around three weeks at the Khyber camp at Ghadiwala in Muzaffarabad in 2019. Most of the instructors being employed for physical and weapons training were Pakistan Army personnel. As per the captured infiltrator, he was given Rs 20,000/- by Atiq ur Rehman for his mother’s treatment and was promised to be given additional Rs 30,000/- on safe return from Pattan near Baramulla, where the group intended to deliver the warlike stores.
