Flights between New Delhi and Moscow are expected to resume from 30 January 2021. The Russian flag carrier Aeroflot is planning to to undertake two flights a week, reports Russian news agency TASS.
“So far it is tentatively planned that flights on (the) route Moscow-New Delhi will resume starting January 30. The plan is to perform two flights per week until March 27. That schedule may be revised later. However, we are still expecting an official instruction,” said Andrei Alimov, head of Aeroflot’s branch office in India.
An official from the Indian civil aviation directorate confirmed to TASS that an official communication is required for resumption of aviation service. As per the official, India is interested in resuming flights to Russia, which India has repeatedly conveyed to the Russian side. As per TASS, the Indian official spoke to them on condition of anonymity as he is not authorized to talk with foreign media outlets.
On 16 January, the Russian anti-coronavirus crisis center had approved resumption of flights beginning January 27 from many countries including India.
India has so far restricted tourists from entering India in view of the COVID-19 pandemic. Foreigners are allowed into India for business, conferences, scientific research, medicine etc. Diplomats and members of official delegations are also allowed to enter India.
