The armed group People’s Defense Force (PDF), which is against the military coup in Myanmar, claimed that at least 30 soldiers were killed in the clash with the army.

According to Asian News International (ANI), the spokesperson of the armed group PDF, affiliated to the Government of National Unity (NUG), founded by elected lawmakers, who do not recognize the military administration, said that at least 30 soldiers from the Myanmar army were killed on the morning of October 11.

According to PDF sources, the military vehicle was set in a mine trap in the Pale area.

It was alleged that the Myanmar army had beaten civilians and looted residents’ properties in operations in Pale, Yinmabin, Monywa, Mingin, Hteegyaing and Chaung-U regions.

The NUG, established after the February 1 military coup in Myanmar, established the People’s Defense Force on May 5 to defend the civilians against the coup.

The military coup in Myanmar

The Myanmar army seized power on February 1, after allegations of fraud in the general elections in 2020 and political tension in the country.

The army had detained many officials and ruling party leaders, especially the country’s de facto leader and Foreign Minister Aung San Suu Kyi, and declared a state of emergency for one year.

As a result of the armed intervention of the Myanmar army against the anti-coup protesters and rebel groups, approximately 1000 people have lost their lives and thousands of demonstrators have been detained.

While large-scale demonstrations continue in the country, the trial of senior government officials in military courts continues.
