China has created artillery with AI which allows hitting even a single person

-

China claims to have successfully put a new form of artillery that uses artificial intelligence to increase the precision of the shot through its paces in a series of tests. SCMP states this artillery can strike targets up to 16 km away and accurately hitting a target the size of a person.

Artificially intelligent artillery has sensors, cameras, and radars that collect data on the target’s position, wind speed, temperature, and other factors that influence the projectile’s trajectory. This allows the artillery to make more informed decisions about where to fire its projectiles. After that, the information is sent to a computer, which then analyses it to calculate the ideal force and angle for the projectile. In addition, the computer makes adjustments to the shot in real-time to consider any changes in the surrounding surroundings.

The artificial intelligence-powered cannon successfully hit the target from several kilometres.

Engineers from China claim that their artificial intelligence-powered cannons are more accurate than other forms of artillery that still rely on the element of human intervention. As a consequence of this, it is impossible to ensure the accuracy of projectiles at all times.

Shells used in conventional artillery can explode more than one hundred metres from where they were intended to hit. Artillery rounds that are directed in flight can make course corrections while in flight. However, because of the enormous amount of real-time data that needs to be calculated using traditional mathematical models, their accuracy has been severely compromised. According to the research conducted by scientists, AI has made it possible to process this data instantly.

In addition, they assert that their AI-powered artillery can function normally in any weather and go through any opposing impediments.

According to Professor Wang Jiang of the Beijing Institute of Technology, who is in charge of leading the project team, an increasing number of academics are using this technology to solve problems related to trajectory planning.

SCMP was told by an unnamed engineer in the Beijing military industry who was not involved in the AI-powered artillery project that such pieces could remove hostile units or vehicles concealed in buildings more effectively than conventional weaponry and at a lower cost than missiles.

The effective range and precision of the weapon were kept a secret when the Chinese state media released footage of a live-fire exercise simulating the destruction of a moving vehicle by an intelligent artillery shell. This footage was released by the Chinese state media last year.

It has been reported that the People’s Liberation Army’s newly developed intelligent mortar has also achieved precision on the centimetre scale. Mortars, on the other hand, tend to have shorter ranges and move at a more leisurely pace than artillery.
