Iran’s domestic made Fateh submarine forces US nuclear submarine USS Florida to surface

-

An American nuclear submarine was spotted near the Strait of Hormuz, according to the commander of the Iranian Army Navy, who stated that the army naval forces gave a warning to the vessel.

On Thursday, the commander of the Iranian army navy, Admiral Shahram Irani, gave an interview with the Iranian national TV station. He stated that the submarine in question approached the Strait of Hormuz while submerged and in complete silence. However, the Fateh submarine detected, identified, and intercepted the vessel. As a result, the foreign submarine was compelled to perform destructive manoeuvres and cross the Strait while remaining above water.

Admiral Iran also stated that this submarine had approached Iranian seas, adding that after receiving the appropriate warnings and being escorted, the submarine altered its course and continued on its journey out of Iranian waters.

The commander of the Navy ship stated that the American vessel in question was a “modern nuclear submarine named [USS, ed) Florida” and that it had crossed Iranian territorial waters in violation of international law.

The commander of the Iranian Army and Navy went on to state that the action taken by the US submarine was both unprofessional and dangerous and that Iran would most certainly report it to the relevant international bodies to hold Washington accountable for violating Iranian territory in the Strait of Hormuz.

A spokesman for the US Navy’s 5th Fleet based in Bahrain stated on April 9 that a nuclear-powered submarine from Kings Bay, Georgia, had transited the Suez Canal on March 7 en route to the Persian Gulf.

Fateh Class Submarine

The Fateh submarine is the most recent and technologically advanced Iranian-built submarine. The submarine was unveiled in 2013 but did not join the Fleet until 2019. Fateh submarine considered the first semi-heavy Iranian submarine, has a weight of 527 tons.

The Iranian sub can remain submerged for 35 days at a depth of more than 200 metres; its turbo-generator engines produce a speed of 11 to 14 knots; with 12 different types of sonar, including active and passive types, Fateh can scan its surroundings and detect depth, speed, and sound, and can even act effectively against enemy divers. Fateh’s ESM can detect, identify, and orient all types of radar waves and telecommunication signals emitted by ships, aircraft, submarines, and other sources.

Today, Admiral Shahram Irani also announced the construction and outfitting of the hulls of the second, third, and fourth Fateh submarine models.
