US military bases in Syria were attacked, and two drones were shot down

-

According to a report by Al Jazeera TV channel, which cited a source, the US air defence system brought down two of the three drones that had attacked the US facility in the eastern part of Syria.

The station quoted an unidentified American insider as claiming that US air defences could shoot down two of the three drones that had hit one of our locations in eastern Syria.

Earlier, the Al-Mayadeen TV channel stated that on Friday evening, rocket fire was directed at American outposts located in the Omar and Koniko fields in the Deir ez-Zor in eastern Syria. The sources cited by the television station claim that eight missiles were launched towards Koniko, and some landed on or close to the base. In northeastern Syria, in the region known as Green Village, Iran-sponsored militants launched a rocket attack on a military post where American troops are stationed. In retaliation, the United States of America carried out an air strike.

In retaliation for an Iranian drone attack on a coalition base, the United States reportedly carried out airstrikes on Syrian units affiliated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), according to a report issued by the Pentagon late on Friday night. The Iranian television channel Press TV said earlier, citing sources in Syria, that the US strikes in Syria did not kill a single Iranian citizen and did not hit Iranian military installations. Instead, the strikes most likely attacked the grain and rural development centres in Deir ez-Zoreh. As reported by the media, seven persons are said to have been killed as a direct result of American strikes in the city of Deir ez-Zor.

The United States military maintains control over regions in northern and northeastern Syria, which the opposition says is illegitimate, specifically in the provinces of Deir ez-Zor, Al-Hasek, and Raqqa. These provinces are home to some of Syria’s most important oil and gas deposits. On multiple occasions, the Damascus government has accused the United States of occupying Syrian territory and engaging in state-sponsored piracy to steal oil in its entirety.
