The Russian supermodel Natalia Vodianova recently revealed an unsuspected source of happiness: after 22 years of being estranged from her younger sister, she was finally able to contact her.
Vodianova was asked very personal questions during an interview published in the December issue of Vogue in the United States. Natalya described her difficult and deprived upbringing and the fact that she was raised without her parents and three sisters.
The fact that this is a show-style drama about fractured families is one of the star’s most troubling claims.
When she was a teenager, Vodianova begged her mother to give her younger sister Masha up for adoption into an institution. This was because Natalya and her two sisters lived in extremely cramped quarters in Nizhny Novgorod, put in a lot of effort, and could not have any more children because of their circumstances. At that time, the future superstar was only 18 years old.
A few years later, when Vodianova obtained her first enormous contract, she attempted to repatriate her sister, but it was too late: the child had already been adopted by a family from California. Vodianova’s attempt was unsuccessful. It took several decades, and an extensive network of modelling ties before her sibling was found.
In the end, only fortunate circumstances were of any assistance. The former Jen Burns, now going by the name Masha, decided to get her DNA analysed and found out that she was related to a famous supermodel. Since then, the sisters have maintained constant contact with one another through text messages, face-to-face interactions, and attempts to catch up.
