The director shared the good news on his Vero profile, accompanying the message with a thank-you speech and a shot of Bae Doo-na’s character (“Cloud Atlas” ):

“A heartfelt thank you to everyone who worked on Rebel Moon. I am sincerely flattered by your artistry, fearlessness, dedication in this incredibly hard work and, of course, friendship. Without you, this film simply would not exist, so thanks again! Principal photography completed!

The action of the tape will unfold in the distant future. In the story, a peaceful colony at the edge of the galaxy becomes the target of a vicious invader tyrant, Belisarius ( Ed Skren ). A young and mysterious girl, Cora (Sofia Boutella), opposes the colonizer. To prevent the enemy, she will travel to neighbouring planes in order to assemble a team of desperate warriors. Enlisting allies, Cora will try to overthrow the antagonist.

The film is based on an original idea by Snyder. The director was inspired by Star Wars and the films of Akira Kurosawa. Kurt Johnstad (300) and Shay Hatten (Army of the Dead) wrote the script based on his idea. The story will be divided into two pictures – the sequel has already been approved and even received an impressive tax rebate from the California authorities.

The rest of the cast included Charlie Hunnam, Ray Fisher, Jena Malone, Djimon Hounsou, Cleopatra Coleman, Staz Nair, Sky Young, Charlotte Maggie, E. Duffy, Fra Fee, Rhian Rees, and Sir Anthony Hopkins, who voices the sentient fighting robot Jimmy.

A release date for Rebel Moon has yet to be announced.
