The next project by director Bong Joon Ho, following the Oscar-winning thriller Parasite, has been confirmed. Mickey 17 is a film starring Robert Pattinson as the title character.

The film is based on Edward Ashton’s novel Mickey 7 and depicts the narrative of a man who is sent to the icy world of Niflheim. Pattinson portrays Mickey 17 a “reinstated employee” who undertakes risky work in the frigid world of Niflheim with the knowledge that he may perish.

This is typical, as Mickey 17 may clone himself while retaining the majority of his memories. After Mickey 17 fails to communicate, he is thought dead. However, when he returns to the base, Mickey 18 has been replaced with a fresh clone.

The release date of Mickey 17 is March 29, 2024. The film is written, directed, and produced by Bong Joon Ho. In 2021, Ashton presented Pon with an unpublished copy of Mickey 7, and Pon was eager to adapt it into a film.

Parasite won Best Director for Bong Joon Ho. Additionally, the film won prizes for Best Original Screenplay and Best International Feature Film. Before this, Bong Joon Ho was employed by Warner Bros., where he produced the HBO series Parasite.
