Doctors have determined that the Hollywood icon Bruce Willis, who is 67 years old, suffers from frontotemporal dementia (LSD).
His family provided confirmation of this information on Thursday on the website of the LSD Association.
Since it was first reported in the spring of 2022, Willis’ speech problem has progressed, and doctors have only very recently been able to make an accurate diagnosis.
Regrettably, issues with communication are only one of the indicators of Bruce’s health. According to the note, while it is distressing, it is also easier for the family to obtain an accurate diagnosis.
Those above the age of 60 are most likely to be diagnosed with LSD, which is a severe disease and the most common form of dementia.
According to members of the actor’s family, there is currently no treatment available for this disease.
In addition to his roles in The Last Boy Scout (1991), Death Belongs to Her (1992), Pulp Fiction (1994), “12 Monkeys” (1995), “The Fifth Element” (1997), “Armageddon” (1998), “The Sixth Sense” (1999), “Invulnerable” (2000), “Sin City” (2005), and “Sleepless in Seattle” (2007), Bruce Willis is best known for his performance as John McClane in the Nutcracker (2019).
Willis had ended his movie career
On March 30, 2022, Bruce Willis ended his career due to an illness as he was diagnosed with aphasia.
“To Bruce’s amazing supporters, as a family we wanted to share that our beloved Bruce has been experiencing some health issues and has recently been diagnosed with aphasia, which is impacting his cognitive abilities. As a result of this and with much consideration Bruce is stepping away from the career that has meant so much to him.”
This is a really challenging time for our family and we are so appreciative of your continued love, compassion and support. We are moving through this as a strong family unit, and wanted to bring his fans in because we know how much he means to you, as you do to him.
As Bruce always says, “Live it up” and together we plan to do just that,” wrote the actor’s daughter Rumer Willis on Instagram.
Aphasia is a speech disorder that can occur as a result of local damage to the cerebral cortex associated with the corresponding speech activity. It is a symptom of some diseases. Aphasia is most often caused by haemorrhage in the cerebral cortex (stroke), but it can also develop as a result of brain trauma, as well as tumours, abscesses, etc.
Bruce Willis and Emma Heming Willis married in 2009 and have two children, Mabel Ray (born April 2012) and Evelyn Penn (born May 2014). Heming Willis is also the stepmother of the actor’s three daughters from his previous marriage to actress Demi Moore which ended in 2000.
