The football world was enthralled by Cristiano Ronaldo’s stunning return to Premier League club Manchester United. In a brief statement, the club announced the news and welcomed him back to his home.

“Manchester United is delighted to confirm that the club has reached an agreement with Juventus for the transfer of Cristiano Ronaldo, subject to personal terms, visa and, medical approval,” read an official statement.

“Everyone at the club is looking forward to welcoming Cristiano back to Manchester,” United said in a brief statement, capping off a busy day.

Here are the other reactions:

Ronaldo previously played for Manchester United for six years, from 2003 to 2009, under Sir Alex Ferguson.

Ronaldo was sold to Real Madrid in 2009 for £80 million (€93 million).

At Manchester United, he appeared in 292 games across all competitions and scored 118 goals. He is the club’s ninth all-time leading scorer, thanks to his incredible goal-scoring record.

In six years, he won three Premier League titles, one Champions League trophy, one FA Cup, and two league cups.

Cristiano Ronaldo has a total of 32 major trophies to his name, including seven championships, five UEFA Champions Leagues, one UEFA European Championship, and one UEFA Nations League.

He also has the most Champions League goals (134) and assists (42) as well as the most goals in the European Championship (14).

Sporting CP was where Ronaldo began his senior club career before joining Manchester United in 2003. He went on to win the Premier League three times in a row and the Champions League and the FIFA Club World Cup.

Current United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, stated that Ronaldo “knows that we’re here” if he wanted to join hours before the official confirmation arrived.

“If you ask me, he is the greatest player of all time,” said Solskjaer, a former United striker who played alongside Ronaldo.

“Such a wonderful human being as well… Everyone who has played with him has a soft spot for him, I believe.”
