Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of the American social network Meta, planned to release a smartwatch, but after two years of development, the project was curtailed for some reason. However, photos of a working prototype have surfaced online. The images show rounded corners similar to the Apple Watch, except it also has a notch with a front-facing camera.

The device had to run a modified version of Android. The clock has a square shape with rounded corners and flat edges. A unique feature of the device was supposed to be the presence of a 5-megapixel front camera for video calls and a 13-megapixel rear camera for regular photos. To use the rear camera, the watch had to be unfastened from the bracelet using a special button.

According to Bloomberg, citing its own sources, Meta engineers failed to properly implement the controller function for augmented reality glasses for the watch. The report says that the presence of a rear camera interfered with the conversion of signals from the wrist into digital commands using electromyography.

The watch firmware provided elements such as a lock screen, a notification center, pre-installed software like Spotify and WhatsApp, a daily physical activity tracking function, different training modes, a photo gallery, a calendar, etc., but there was no app store. The device was supposed to be released in the spring of 2023 at a price of $349.
