Former Mumbai top cop Julio Ribeiro has declined Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar’s suggestion that he should probe the former Maharashrta Chief Param Bir Singh’s charges against Home Minister Anil Deshmukh. “Julio Riberio’s credibility is such that no one can interfere or influence his investigation,” said Pawar.

Speaking to media, Julio Riberio said he won’t consent to be a part of the probe. Julio Ribeiro was the former chief of Gujarat and Punjab police and later India’s ambassador to Romania.

Param Bir Singh wrote in a letter to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray – that Anil Deshmukh had started an extortion racket along with several Maharashtra Police officers, including Sachin Waze.  They were set a target of ₹ 100 crore a month and told to collect from pubs and restaurants.

In yet another development to what the Twitterati are calling the Vazegate scandal, Raj Thackeray, the president of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), called for a central government inquiry into how the gelatin laden Scorpio, Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) managed to be parked outside billionaire industrialist Mukesh Ambani’s Antilia residence in South Mumbai on 25 February 2021; The street is known for its high-profile residents and heavy security presence, with Ambani having been accorded Z plus security cover.

The MNS president raised a slew of incisive questions during an interaction with the media today. “How did the SUV with explosives come to be parked near Antilia?” Thackeray asked. “We suspected that it was done by terrorists, but now it seems that it was the handiwork of the police,” added the MNS President.

“Who authorised Sachin Vaze to dump the SUV? From where the gelatin was sticks sourced?” Asked Thackery while calling for a thorough central inquest into the case. The complicity of former Mumbai Police commissioner Param Bir Singh and his relationship with the key accused was also called into question by the political leader. Thackery had also called for the resignation of Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh yesterday for his alleged ties with Vaze.
