On Friday, a joint cordon and search operation was launched by the security forces based on specific input generated by them with regards to the presence of terrorists in the village of Rakhama area of Shopian in Jammu and Kashmir.

The Operation

As per sources, after the presence of a terrorist was confirmed during the search operation, he was provided with an opportunity to surrender but instead, he indiscriminately fired upon the joint search party which led to a retaliation resulting in an encounter. According to the reports, the terrorist identified as Mujeeb Lone was killed by the security forces while his body was retrieved from the site of the encounter.

The terrorist is said to have joined the terror fold recently and was linked with Pakistan harboured terrorist group, Lashkar-e-Taiba. He was found to be responsible for creating terror among the locals and had been persuading innocent citizens to sympathise with anti-national elements. one pistol along with a magazine was also recovered from the site of the encounter and were taken into case records for further investigation.

Another in a month!

Earlier this month, another Pakistan infiltrator was captured by the Indian army in the Uri sector of Jammu and Kashmir during an infiltration bid that was going on since September 18-19 and an 18-year-old Pakistani terrorist, identified as Babar Patra was captured by the forces. The captured infiltrator is also said to be affiliated with the LeT. Ali Babar Patra revealed that the Pakistan-ISI-LeT nexus was working to disrupt the state of Jammu and Kashmir.

While, on 26 September 2021, a Pakistani guide, Qari Anaz, was killed by the Indian forces after he opened fire at the army search team. One AK-47 rifle, two grenades and one communication set were recovered from the captured terror operative by the forces.

Activated terrorist launch pads

Keeping the frequent terrorist engagements in view, the security forces have requested the people to cooperate with them till the area is completely sanitized and has been cleared of all the explosive materials, if there are any.

On a note, the terrorists who attempted to infiltrate Indian borders earlier this month had made use of the Salamabad Nala route which was earlier used for the 2016 suicide attack on the Uri garrison.

As per reports, the Indian Army says that the terrorist launch pads have been activated again and the recent infiltration attempts are aimed at carrying out sensational attacks in Kashmir, while the Kashmir Zone Police said that the Security Forces are on the job.
