Man arrested for murder and mutilation of a woman sex worker in Pune

Man murdered the woman he had an extramarital affair with on 12th August, arrested in Pune city.

Rozina Pansare, alias Kavita Choudhury, a sex worker, was reported missing by her friend in Faraskhana police station, 10 days after her suspicious disappearance, according to the police.

She lived in a flat rented by the suspect, Hanumant Shinde, in Narayan Peth while he lived with his wife in Bajrang Peth.

Based on the information gathered by police Rajendra Landge, Shinde ran a mobile phone repair shop near City Post in Pune, he was followed by the officials of Anti Extortion Cell-1 of Pune police crime branch, led by inspector Mahendra Jagtap, before bringing in for questioning.

A police statement read, “ He visited the woman from time to time, as he was married he had to go home and that angered the woman. She verbally abused him and asked him to stay back and live with her. On August 12th he went to her house in Narayan Peth, where Rozina alias Kavita asked him why he didn’t come home all day and started verbally abusing him. He then strangled her to death, locked the apartment and fled to Akkalkot”.

He returned a day later with a tempo, cut her body into three parts and stuffed them in two tarpaulin bags. He loaded the vehicle with the bags and threw them in different locations between Bhugaon and Lavasa, according to police.

The body parts were recovered and sent to Sassoon General Hospital for autopsy while the missing person’s case was turned into a murder and destruction of evidence case under Section 302 and 201 respectively, of the Indian Penal Code at Vishrambaugh police station.
