Mumbai COVID-19 cases have witnessed a surge of 1,922 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, March 16. The day also observed four Corona related deaths and had seen 1,236 recoveries. The one-day spike took the number of COVID-19 cases in the city up to 3,47,581.
Going by the data presented by the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM) there are currently 15,263 active coronavirus cases in the city; 3,19,878 patients have made full recoveries while 11,539 succumbed to the virus. Despite the spike the overall recovery rate still holds up at 92%. The MCGM has carried out 35,93,065 evaluations, and there are presently 34 contaminated zones within the cities slum establishments and chawls. 246 buildings have been sealed by the civic body.
Yesterday, the state of Maharashtra recorded 17,864 new COVID cases, taking the states figures up to 23,47,328. As of filing this report there are 1,38,813 active cases in the Maharashtra state, with the total discharge of 9,510 patients, and 21,54,253 recoveries over the course of the day. Over 87 succumbed to the virus in the past 24 hours with the death toll mounting up to 52,996.
6,52,531 people are reported to be under home quarantine, 6,067 admitted into institutional quarantine centers. Both the COVID-19 recovery rate and fatality rate in the state remain at 91.77% and 2.26% respectively. Yesterday’s nationwide figures place India with 28,903 new cases, 17,741 recoveries and 188 deaths taking Tuesday’s national tally up to 1,14,38,734. According to the data Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare numbers, a total of 1,10,45,284 have completely recovered. The death toll figures at 1,59,044 in the country. As of now, there are 2,24,406 active cases and 3,50,64,536 healthcare and frontline workers have been vaccinated across India.
