On Saturday, August 28, the Delhi court called out Honey Singh for not appearing in front of the Court for the domestic violence case filed against him by his wife Shalini Talwar.
“No one is above the law. Surprised to see how this case is being taken so lightly,” metropolitan magistrate Tania Singh said. While the singer didn’t appear, his wife, Shalini Talwar, appeared physically before the Court.
The Court gave Honey Singh an exemption on personal appearance for medical reasons. Honey Singh’s counsel asked for the singer’s exemption from his personal appearance citing his poor health. He assured the Court that Honey Singh would appear on the next date of hearing.
The Delhi Court has asked Honey Singh’s counsel to present a medical report and the singer’s Income Tax returns and asked him to appear before the Court on September 3. The counsel assured that they would file the medical records and Income Tax records.
Honey Singh’s wife Shalini Talwar had filed a case of domestic violence, mental harassment, financial fraud, and sexual violence against the 38-year-old musician, his parents, and his younger sister in Delhi’s Tis Hazari court in August 3. She had also asked for Rs 20 crore as compensation from him under the Protection of Women From Domestic Violence Act.
In the complaint, Talwar has accused Singh of going to extreme lengths to hide the fact that he was married, cheated on her, and became addicted to alcohol and drugs. She said he had ‘casual sex with multiple women’ and would not take her on his singing tours.
Honey Singh had issued a statement calling the allegations false and malicious’ and wrote, “I am deeply pained and distressed by the false and malicious allegations levied against me and my family by my companion/wife of 20 years, Mrs. Shalini Talwar. The allegations are severely odious”.
