The Russian Defense Ministry and the Sukhoi Design Bureau are planning to develop a two-seat version of the Su-57 fighter for export, Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisov said during a working trip to the Primorsky Territory.

As per Borisov, the modification will help to expand the demand abroad.

“There is interest in this plane, and it, in my opinion, will increase from year to year, as our Russian forces will be saturated with this model. Foreign customers first look at how a particular type of weapon of the Russian Armed Forces behaves, ” Borisov added.

The Su-57, formerly known as the PAK FA, is a fifth-generation Russian multifunctional fighter designed to destroy all types of air, ground, and surface targets. It made its first flight in 2010.

The aircraft is considered highly maneuverable, possesses the latest avionics and low visibility or stealth technology.

The contract for the supply of 76 fighters to the Russian  Aerospace Forces was signed at the Army-2019 forum. The first production vehicle for the military was delivered in 2020.
