Salman Khan and Netflix India have joined hands to help the stunt artistes registered under the association, as they have decided to help Stunt Artists who’re left stranded and unemployed amid the pandemic. The help comes in the form of helping the Movie Stunt Artists Association, an association specifically working towards betterment of stunt artists during the lockdown.
As India struggles with the COVID-19 pandemic with everyone fighting their own battles, ‘Stunt Artists’ in particular from the film industry have been left unemployed with no source of income as film shootings have been halted. Even after the shoots resumed, only a few of them got back to work due to the strict Covid-19 guidelines.
Fortunately for them, Salman Khan and Netflix have decided to step up to help these stunt artists registered under the Movie Stunt Artists Association. As per reports, Akshay Kumar also continues to help them out by paying an insurance cover for all the 616 members of the association.
Earlier during the first wave of Covid-19, Tiger Shroff and Ajay Devgan also extended help to the stunt artist and in 2020, as Ajay transferred Rs 5000 to about 350 fighters of the Movie Stunt Artists Association and Tiger, who is known to perform his stunts, had distributed essential ration to 250 members of the association. Hrithik had donated 25 lakh rupees to help the workers.
Action director Aejaz Gulab, the General Secretary of the association, said “Now we’re getting help from Salman Khan, and the money will be transferred into the accounts of association members. He also said that even Netflix will be helping their association so there is some relief for the members who have been sitting at home without work.”
Celebs like Vicky Kaushal and other actors like Sakshi Tanwar have also come forward to help the association, ultimately helping the stunt artists who’re a crucial group of people for the film industry.
Even when things are normal, a stunt artist earns about Rs 9000 per shift, which includes conveyance fees. Most of the members of the association live in rented apartments. Considering fitness is the basic requirement of the job for them, they have to maintain a certain lifestyle and follow a particular diet. Doing this had become very challenging for them during the lockdown.
Even when shoots resume, Covid guidelines will not allow crowding on sets, so stunt artists will have to wait before they can return to sets. Considering their situation, help from the big stars of bollywood is a ray of hope as now they can breathe a sigh of relief.
