Actress Scarlett Johansson, who starred in the movie “Black Widow” based on Marvel comics, filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles (California) court against Disney on Thursday, according to The Wall Street Journal.

Disney launched Black Widow on its Disney + streaming platform in conjunction with its US theater premiere. A large portion of Johansson’s royalties are based on box office receipts. The film actress was guaranteed that the film would only premiere in cinemas.

“Disney deliberately provoked a violation of the agreement by Marvel without any justification in order to prevent Johansson from realizing the full benefits of her deal with Marvel,” the lawsuit said.

The premiere of the film about the Russian superheroine Natasha Romanoff (Black Widow) in the United States took place on July 9, 2021. The release has been delayed three times since its original date in May 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Black Widow, an assassin, a spy, a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent, and an Avenger, will have to face her past and remember what was in her life before joining the Avengers team, as well as learn about a dangerous conspiracy, into which her longtime acquaintances are involved – Elena, Melina and Alexey (Red Guardian).
