Captain James Kirk of the earth’s most celebrated spacecraft USS Enterprise has become the oldest man to go to space. The star of the Star Trek series, William Shatner, is now 90 years old and flew businessman Jeff Bezos’ s Blue Origin spacecraft mission NS-18.

The Canadian-born actor was among the guests who made a short trip to the space border with three other people at the launch from Texas on October 13.

The spacecraft, which went to an altitude of 106 kilometres during the 10-minute journey with the launch from the Van Horn region of Texas, successfully parachuted into the desert near the same region.

In the pre-launch video shared by Blue Origin, Shatner said, “We’re just at the beginning, but how miraculous this start is. How extraordinary to be a part of it.” He expressed his feelings in his words.

US-based space tourism was carried out for the first time on July 11 by British Businessman Richard Branson, owner of Virgin Galactic, and five people accompanying him, and nine days later, Jeff Bezos made a short space trip with his own company’s capsule.

SpaceX, owned by Elon Musk, became the third organization to participate in space tourism with its special expedition last month.
