Ek Villain‘ was released worldwide on 27 June 2014 and the movie instantly created the hype. The Mohit Suri’s directorial, starring Sidharth Malhotra, Shraddha Kapoor, and Riteish Deshmukh was one of the biggest Bollywood box offices of the year 2014. And exactly for this reason, the makers of the film announced that there would be a second installment.

As the movie marks seven years of release, here are seven facts about the movie that most of the fans don’t know about!

Shraddha Kapoor learned how to ride a bike

Sharddha’s bold and stellar presence in the movie was a spectacle to behold. The lead actress had learned how to ride a motorbike for the movie after asking for a body double for the same. She had even injured herself during the shoot.

Riteish Deshmukh’s contact lenses

Ritesh Deshmukh’s character was the embodiment of evil and the actor gave absolutely chilling cold glares in the movie. To fit in the role, Riteish had to wear light coloured contact lenses.

The beautiful Prachi Desai’s cameo role

The unexpected appearance of Prachi Desai in the movie was an amazing strategy. The fans who recognised the almost unrecognizable Prachi were left speechless as she performed in the music video of Awari.

Remo Fernandes’ first non-musical role

Known as the pioneer of Indian pop music, Remo Fernandes has never done injustice to his title. The man who made mesmerizing music was seen in his very first acting role after which he went on to star in the 2015 released Bombay Velvet.

Glowing beach in Galliyan

The ‘Galliyan’ trek had become the get to go music for fans as the song could be heard being played everywhere! The beautiful ‘glowing’ beach seen in the video of the song is actually Maldives’ Vaadhoo island beach. The location appeared to be illuminated at night, which was because of a natural phenomenon known as bioluminescence.

Ek Villain was originally titled Villain

The movie was titled ‘Ek Villain’ to avoid any copyright issues. Before the change, Arjun Rampal had held the title to be ‘Villain’.

A remake of I Saw The Devil

Before the release, word had spread that the movie was the remake of the popular Korean film ‘I Saw the Devil’. However, several aspects of the film were altered to suit the Indian audience’s preferences. 

While Ek Villain Returns is a sequel to the 2014 release, the plot would be completely different. The forthcoming film stars John Abraham, Arjun Kapoor, Disha Patani, and Tara Sutaria in pivotal roles and is set to release in theaters on February 11, 2022.
