After meeting Mamta Banerjee, who is trying to provide a Congress-free opposition in the country, the NCP chief Sharad Pawar’s attitude is also seen changing. After meeting Sharad Pawar, Mamta Banerjee said that the NCP leader rightly noted that there is no UPA (United Progressive Alliance). Mamta Banerjee said, “There is a need to give a strong alternative as no one is ready to fight the ongoing fascism at present. Sharad ji is a very senior leader, and I have come to talk to him on political matters. I agree with what Sharad Pawar ji has said that there is no UPA.”

Previously, the Congress party was the main party of UPA and both NCP and Shiv Sena were a part of it.

After meeting Mamta Banerjee, Sharad Pawar said, ‘”We have to give a strong option for leadership. Our thinking is not for today but about the elections. Such an alternative must be established, and Mamata Banerjee had come to meet us about this. We have had positive talks with her on all the issues.”

Sharad Pawar also said that he had met Sanjay Raut and Aditya Thackeray. “Today, my colleagues and I have had a long talk with them. They believe that in today’s era, parties with similar views should come together. Strong alternative leadership should be given at the national level.”

Will Mamata Banerjee be the face of the opposition?

Trinamool Congress (TMC) chief Mamata Banerjee is taking one political step after another given the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national vice president Dilip Ghosh on Wednesday termed the West Bengal Chief Minister’s meeting with National Congress Party (NCP) and Shiv Sena leaders as a “show” in Mumbai. Dilip Ghosh is smarting from the worst defeat he received in the West Bengal elections

Mamta Banerjee is now emerging as the face of the opposition after winning the West Bengal Assembly elections by a considerable margin. She has expanded her party in recent times, giving a jolt to Congress.

On a three-day tour of Maharashtra, Mamata Banerjee met Shiv Sena leaders Sanjay Raut and Aaditya Thackeray on Tuesday.

“I don’t think anything will come out of these meetings. How will Mamata Banerjee support the Shiv Sena? What do they have there? There is a distance of 3,000 km between them. It is all a sham,” the BJP leader claimed.

Displaying his lack of political acumen, Dilip Ghosh said, “It is a good thing to form a national party. But who is with her? She tried to break the Congress in Tripura and got some votes but was not successful. It is good that she has gone to Maharashtra now, Where she absolved her sins of politics of violence and killings in Bengal by visiting the Siddhivinayak temple.”

In a statement issued on Tuesday, Shiv Sena said that party president Uddhav Thackeray would not meet Mamata Banerjee due to health reasons.
