USS Laboon enters Black Sea, HMS Defender & HNLMS Evertsen to follow

The USS Laboon (DDG 58) missile squadron destroyer of the US Navy class ‘Arleigh Burke’ entered the Black Sea on 11th June as per the press service of the Sixth Fleet of the US Navy. The destroyer is said to be working with NATO allies and partners to ensure security in the Black Sea as part of Operation Atlantic Resolve.
“The Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Laboon (DDG 58) entered the Black Sea on a routine patrol, June 11, 2021, while conducting multi-domain operations with a U.S. Navy P-8A aircraft from Patrol Squadron VP-40 and NATO Airborne Early Warning and Control Force E-3A Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS),” says the release.

“This is the fifth ship of the US Navy, which entered the Black Sea in 2021. U.S. Coast Guard Cutter (USCGC) Hamilton (WMSL 753) departed the Black Sea May 14 following operations with Black Sea partner navies and coast guards,” says the release.

 The destroyer of the British Navy Daring Class Type 45  HMS Defender, D36, is preparing to enter the Black Sea said the British Navy on June 10. The ship is reportedly currently anchored in Istanbul.

Also anchored in Istanbul is the air defense frigate of the Netherlands Navy De Zeven Provinciën-class HNLMS Evertsen ( or Zr.Ms. Evertsen, F805). As per the reports, which are currently not officially confirmed, this ship also has plans to enter the Black Sea.
