The body of a 33-year-old lady was found in a forest by Shelar village locals, early morning today. Police speculate ‘rape and murder’ as the probable cause of death.

Villagers had initiated a search for the deceased as she did not return home after going out to graze cattle last night.

Bruise marks on the deceased’s body led police to suspect foul play. “We suspect that the woman was raped before being murdered,” police said.

As of now, the case has been registered as an ‘accidental death’, with the body of the deceased being sent for post-mortem to ascertain the cause of death.
