Honey Singh today appeared before the court for the domestic violence case filed against him by his wife Shalini Talwar. He moved an application seeking that the domestic violence case filed against him be heard in-camera.

The judge is counselling the couple in his chamber with a video recording of the proceedings. The lawyer of the singer Honey Singh has submitted his income records and medical report to the court in a sealed envelope. On Saturday, August 28, the court had directed Honey Singh to appear before it on September 3 after he failed to do so, citing poor health. The Delhi Court had asked Honey Singh’s counsel to present a medical report and the Income Tax returns of the singer.

Honey Singh presented himself in court today. His wife Shalini Talwar had filed a case of domestic violence, mental harassment, financial fraud, and sexual violence against the 38-year-old musician, his parents, and his younger sister in the Delhi’s ‘Tis Hazari court on August 3. She had also asked for Rs 20 crore as compensation from him under the Protection of Women From Domestic Violence Act.

In the complaint, Shalini Talwar has accused Honey Singh of going to extreme lengths to hide the fact that he was married, cheated on her, and became addicted to alcohol and drugs. She said he had ‘casual sex with multiple women’ and would not take her on his singing tours.

Previously, Honey Singh, in a statement, denied all the allegations against him and his family. He called them ‘false and malicious’ and expressed he is ‘deeply pained’ and ‘distressed’ by them.

He wrote in his statement, “I am deeply pained and distressed by the false and malicious allegations levied against me and my family by my companion/wife of 20 years, Mrs Shalini Talwar. The allegations are severely odious. I have never issued a public statement or press note in the past despite being subjected to harsh criticism for my lyrics, speculation on my health, & negative media coverage in general. However, I see no merit in maintaining a studied silence this time because some of the allegations have been directed at my family–my old parents and younger sister–who have stood by me during some very difficult and trying times and comprise my world. The allegations are cynical and defaming in nature.”
