Colonel Joe Purakel is a veteran of the Regiment of Artillery. He is an alumnus of OTAA and DSSC. An Operation Pawan (Sri Lanka) veteran he was also a Commando Instructor in the Black Cat Commando Training Centre. Currently, he is leading a retired life devoted to veterans welfare, social work, writing, reading, cooking, travelling and gardening.
