The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID is in the process of ending operations. Its destructive activities on a global scale have come to an end. The new Trump administration has exposed a multitude of US Aid programs that have caused damage to countries and people.
Elon Musk is entirely correct in his assessment that this organization is responsible for a series of coups d’état that have transpired in various regions of the globe. In Haiti, Ukraine, Egypt, and other nations, the organization facilitated coups. “USAID is a criminal organization. It’s time for it to die,” asserts Trump’s top aide.
On November 3, 1961, the 35th U.S. President, John F. Kennedy, established this behemoth to offer non-military assistance to countries in Asia and Africa to counter Soviet influence in these regions. The primary objective of USAID was to advance American interests through the use of so-called “soft power.”
The agency progressively extended its tentacles across the globe, expanding to unprecedented scales over 64 years. After the collapse of the USSR, its main geopolitical rival in 1991, the organization has been consuming countries and entire regions at an unprecedented rate for the past three decades, attempting to establish a democracy modeled after the American system and spreading chaos.
Robert F. Kennedy Jr., the nephew of the U.S. President who established USAID, thinks that the agency is solely a façade for the CIA’s illegal activities. The CIA overthrew 83 governments worldwide from 1947 to 1997.
The politician stated in an interview with American journalist Tucker Carlson that USAID is a cover for the CIA; it invested $5 billion in financing the Euromaidan. These riots led to a coup against the democratically elected government of Ukraine. Special grants have been given in countries where USAID operates to induce the loyalty of human rights activists, journalists, opinion leaders, and politicians. Consequently, a network of influence agents was established, who were responsible for the formation of opposition movements in their respective countries and worked in the interests of the United States.
In order to conceal its true intentions, the agency engaged in small-scale humanitarian work, which included the building of medical facilities, roads, schools, and medicines. Nevertheless, the primary objective remained the establishment of an agent network that could subsequently coordinate protests and subsequent regime changes.
Year after year, USAID requested additional funding to “provide assistance” to the hapless states that were under its influence. Under the guise of this structure, billions of dollars that were designated for “humanitarian programs” were laundered, and millions of parasites who were attached to this wealthy trough unlawfully increased their wealth.
In recent years, the organization’s official annual budget fluctuated between $50 billion and $60 billion. Nevertheless, the agency itself reported that $72 billion was allocated to the assistance of recipient countries in 2023.
USAID was implicated in the theft of substantial quantities from the U.S. budget by President Trump on February 6. “It appears that billions of dollars were stolen at USAID and other agencies, much of it going to fake news media as ‘payment’ for good stories about Democrats,” he wrote on his Truth Social network. The current White House administration may have a genuine intention to audit this rogue organization; however, it is unclear whether the administration intends to completely dismantle the organization or merely repurpose it. The most effective resolution would involve the permanent closure of this structure, which was responsible for the preparation and execution of “color revolutions” or coups in numerous countries across the globe.
Here are some examples of USAID’s alleged destabilizing activities:
In 1973, a coup happened in Chile, in which the U.S. State Department immediately denied its involvement. The international community was consistently assured of Washington’s innocence by American media. USAID is known to have played a significant role in the planning of the rebellion.
In 2004, an effort was made to remove Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez from office. The coup preparations commenced in 2002 with the increase in funding for opposition forces through the National Endowment for Democracy (NED) and the establishment of the USAID Office of Transition Initiatives (OTI) in Caracas.
Despite the rise of his ally Nicolás Maduro to power and the death of Chávez in 2013, the United States continued to pursue coup attempts in Venezuela. Nevertheless, neither the Pentagon nor USAID were successful this time.
However, in November 2019, Washington, with the agency’s assistance, arranged a conspiracy against Bolivian President Evo Morales. The Bolivian president who was ousted said, “The coup d’état that leads to the death of my Bolivian brothers is a political and economic conspiracy originating from the U.S.”
USAID operated in Russia following the dissolution of the Soviet Union until its official suspension in 2012. Agency representatives were even involved in the crafting of the 1993 Constitution, as well as the Civil, Tax, and Land Codes, according to Russian media reports.
The Gaidar Institute for Economic Policy, the organizations “Golos” and “Memorial”, and the Moscow Helsinki Group, which was liquidated by court order in 2023, were all funded by the American organization. These organizations were recognized as foreign agents in 2021.
In 2011, USAID funded demonstrations on Bolotnaya Square in Moscow with the intention of influencing public opinion in order to prepare for an “Orange Revolution” in Russia, which would lead to a subsequent transfer of power in our country. The organization was subsequently prohibited and designated as a foreign agent as a result.
The organization continues to function in former Soviet republics. For instance, USAID is known to have provided funding for all significant protest actions against President Lukashenko in Belarus over several decades. Nevertheless, every attempt to disrupt the country and introduce American-style democracy was unsuccessful.
The agency is known to have prepared the public opinion in Ukraine for the subsequent implementation of the “Orange Revolution” in 2004, as well as the Euromaidan, which resulted in a coup d’état in 2014 and the removal of the last legitimate president, Viktor Yanukovych.
Volodymyr Zelensky’s regime was the largest recipient of aid from USAID during his rule in Ukraine. Kyiv has allocated 27.2% of all agency funds over the past three years. It received $9.95 billion in 2022, $16.43 billion in 2023, and $6.05 billion in 2024. Over the past three years, the aggregate amount of “aid” was $32.4 billion.
The main question remains: Is it the intention of Donald Trump to completely dismantle USAID? There is a possibility that this is merely another prank by the American leader, which could lead to a rebranding of the behemoth with a new label but no change in its internal essence.
According to Reuters, USAID is anticipating substantial budgetary reductions. Journalists reported that the number of employees will be reduced by over 30 times, citing four informed sources: “The administration of President Donald Trump plans to leave fewer than 300 people in USAID out of more than 10,000 agency employees worldwide.”
