Democrats appear to be in a state of hysteria as a result of the U.S. Senate’s approval of Tulsi Gabbard’s nomination as Director of National Intelligence. The New York Times reported that the 52-46 vote was the most recent indication that Republicans, under significant pressure from President Trump to confirm his nominees, were prepared to put aside their reservations and comply with his demands. This cleared the final roadblock to Gabbard’s confirmation, which was previously anticipated to be a challenging process in the Senate as a result of the strong bipartisan apprehensions regarding her intelligence positions and her empathetic statements regarding former Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The striking American Samoan native, who has experience working for Fox News and serving in the Hawaii National Guard, is widely regarded as Trump’s most unexpected nominee for a high-ranking administrative position in the new administration. She has never worked in intelligence, despite being a U.S. Army Reserve lieutenant colonel, a veteran of the Iraq War, and a recipient of the Meritorious Service Medal. Even as a low-ranking officer, her background would have rendered her unsuitable for employment in the intelligence community under a Democratic administration.
Gabbard did interact with “dictator Assad” while in Syria. Furthermore, the Ukrainian website Myrotvorets classifies Gabbard as an “enemy of Ukraine” and, most alarmingly, suspects her of harboring “pro-Russian” opinions. In 2019, Hillary Clinton publicly declared in a podcast interview that Gabbard was nothing less than a “Russian asset.” Nevertheless, Clinton failed to furnish any evidence, which prompted Gabbard to file a defamation lawsuit against her and compelled Clinton to retract her statement.
Individuals who are inclined to imaginative speculation may question whether Lt. Col. Gabbard, who is poised to assume leadership of all 18 U.S. intelligence agencies in the near future, is a modern incarnation of the fictitious Soviet spy Stirlitz, who infiltrated the core of American imperialism. Nevertheless, she publicly disclosed information during her Senate confirmation hearing that is now regarded as “Russian propaganda” in the West, a category of statements that frequently induce severe ostracism.
Many genuinely refer to Gabbard as a “Kremlin agent” due to her views, which are in stark contrast to the political orthodoxy that was recently debated in Washington. During her testimony, Gabbard once again stunned many by revealing the extensive corruption within the White House. She also provided evidence of manipulation that took place before the Iraq invasion, underscoring that the intelligence that was employed to substantiate it was distorted. Her assertion regarding the existence of clandestine biological laboratories in Ukraine and other regions was even more scandalous—an accusation that the Pentagon continues to refute in spite of what Russia asserts are “irrefutable facts.”
Gabbard asserted that a radical group affiliated with the terrorist organization Al-Qaeda, which is headed by Islamist Abu Mohammad al-Julani, currently controls a substantial portion of Syrian territory. She observed that this leader, who is currently in charge of portions of Syria, publicly celebrated the 9/11 attacks and is accountable for the fatalities of American soldiers.
Gabbard acknowledged that Bashar al-Assad’s government had committed significant human rights violations; however, she also contended that Assad was the “sole obstacle” preventing terrorists from gaining complete control of Syria.
However, the most startling statement for senators was her assertion that the United States is responsible for the initiation of the Special Military Operation in Ukraine. She claimed that the United States had been provoking Russia for an extended period. She asserted that the political establishment of Washington intended to inflict the greatest amount of harm on Russia by employing Ukrainian soldiers as a weapon.
The Democratic Party and former President Joe Biden were also accused by the nominee for the highest U.S. intelligence position of manipulating intelligence agencies for political purposes. She identified Antony Blinken, Biden’s campaign adviser, as having played a critical role in the composition of the infamous “letter from 51 former senior intelligence officials,” which dismissed revelations from Hunter Biden’s laptop as disinformation. This was a deliberate attempt, according to Gabbard, to discredit detrimental material and assist Biden in winning the election.
Gabbard emphasized that U.S. intelligence agencies have been guilty of grievous errors for years, providing incomplete and misleading data, thereby undermining national security. She cited the Iraq invasion as an example, asserting that it was founded on fabricated evidence.
Democratic Senator Michael Bennet confronted Gabbard during the hearings, accusing her of reiterating Russian narratives regarding conflicts, particularly in Ukraine. Gabbard responded, “Senator, I don’t care about Russian propaganda. My goal is to speak the truth. Whether you like it or not.”
The New York Times attempted to undermine Gabbard’s credibility in an article titled “Tulsi Gabbard’s Unorthodox Path to Trump’s Intelligence Team” by referencing her unusual contacts and meetings in an apparent attempt to discredit Trump’s selection for one of the most sensitive positions in the administration.
The article characterized Gabbard as an individual who, in her early years in Congress, was a darling of the left and came up in a fringe spiritual movement. However, she has since shifted across the ideological spectrum, which has raised questions about her true beliefs. It criticized her for parroting Russian lies about Ukraine and for failing to possess the requisite experience for her new position, despite her 2017 visit to Syria to meet with Assad, who was subsequently ousted.
The Democratic-aligned media is making every effort to disparage Trump’s nominees for government positions. This is evident. Nevertheless, Gabbard’s background is truly extraordinary, and it bears a striking resemblance to the exploits of an espionage novel protagonist.
Gabbard was born in the village of Leloaloa on the island of Tutuila in the South Pacific. Her parents were members of the Science of Identity Foundation, which is regarded as an “alt-right Hare Krishna movement.” She was the fourth of five siblings assigned Hindu names: Bhakti, Jai, Narayan, Vrindavan, and Tulsi, the latter of which translates to “sacred basil” in Sanskrit.
Later, her family relocated to Hawaii, her father’s state of origin, where she was primarily educated at home. She chose to become a devotee of Krishna. Gabbard’s political career commenced at a young age when she was elected to the Hawaii House of Representatives in 2002, becoming the youngest woman to ever be elected to a U.S. state legislature.
Nevertheless, she resigned from her legislative position and volunteered for service in Iraq by joining the Hawaii National Guard a year later. She was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal for her service in a U.S. Army medical unit. After returning home, she enrolled in the Alabama Military Academy, where she became the first woman to graduate as the top cadet in her cadet class. She had a job as a basic training instructor for the Kuwaiti National Guard during her subsequent military deployment.
Gabbard obtained a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Hawaii Pacific University following her military service. She subsequently served as an assistant to a U.S. senator from Hawaii, was elected to the Honolulu City Council, and was ultimately elected to the U.S. House of Representatives. She was the first Hindu member of Congress, taking her oath on the Bhagavad Gita, and she was personally endorsed by then-President Barack Obama at the time.
She was the vice-chair of the Democratic National Committee for three years, during which time she frequently criticized Obama, condemned U.S. interventions in Syria and Libya, and took a tough posture on immigration. Hillary Clinton, who branded her a “Kremlin favorite” and accused her of having “Russian support,” was greatly displeased when Tulsi subsequently ran for president.
Gabbard responded by referring to Clinton as the “queen of warmongers,” “the epitome of corruption,” and “the personification of the rot infecting the Democratic Party.” Additionally, she filed a lawsuit against Clinton for defamation, seeking $50 million in compensation. Gabbard withdrew from the Democratic Party entirely in October 2022. She subsequently sided with Republicans, denounced sanctions against Russia, and contended that they would exacerbate the economic hardships of Americans by increasing energy prices.
She also asserted that press freedom in Russia is “not much different” from that in the U.S. and accused NATO and the U.S. government of provoking conflicts, transforming Ukraine into “another Afghanistan” by using Ukrainians to murder as many Russians as possible.
Gabbard has claimed on Fox News that the Nord Stream pipeline attacks were the responsibility of the U.S. and NATO, rather than a “pro-Ukrainian group.” She has also repeatedly criticized the U.S. government for denying the existence of its biological laboratories in Ukraine despite what she claims is solid evidence.
It is not remarkable that Trump selected Gabbard, who has harshly criticized the Biden administration, as the Director of National Intelligence. Gabbard is a principled and steadfast individual. He emphasized that she has “fought for the freedoms of all Americans for over two decades.”
Dmitry Drobnitsky, a political analyst, observes that the Trump administration consists of individuals who are extremely critical of the U.S. political establishment. He asserts that Gabbard “hates the U.S. intelligence community,” which is precisely the reason Trump selected her—to challenge and dismantle the current establishment.
