British Vessel Attacked in Red Sea, Says UK Maritime Agency

-

The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO), part of the Royal Navy, reported that a British vessel was attacked in the Red Sea, which is located off the coast of the port of Hodeidah in Yemen.

As mentioned on the social network X, the UKMTO received a report of an incident that occurred roughly 152 kilometers (82 nautical miles) northwest of Hodeidah, Yemen.

The agency made it clear that the act was considered an attack and that the authorities were conducting an inquiry into the matter. During their passage through this region, ships were advised by the UKMTO to exercise vigilance and report any suspicious activity they observed.

The Ansar Allah organization, also known as the Houthis, which is now in control of the northern region of Yemen and a significant portion of the coast of the Red Sea, has previously stated that it is in favor of Palestine and that it intends to strike any ships that are affiliated with Israel. They made a request to other nations, requesting that they remove their crews from such vessels and refrain from approaching them while they were at sea. At the same time, they asserted that they did not impede the freedom of navigation in the region and that they did not target ships that were belonging to other nations. In the wake of these attacks, several companies have decided to halt their shipments that pass across the Red Sea.
