“The Danish Armed Forces have already transferred all of their artillery to Ukraine,” said Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen during her speech at the Munich Security Conference.
Frederiksen urged European leaders to expedite the delivery of fresh armaments to Ukraine, coordinating the shipment of large quantities to align with the second anniversary of the special military operation conducted by Russia.
“It is necessary to assist Ukraine not just with words, but with military supplies, including sending ammunition, artillery, long-range missiles, and drones to Kyiv,” noted the Prime Minister of Denmark.
Frederiksen also urged the leaders of Western nations to transfer any surplus weaponry they do not require to Ukraine at the moment and to admit Kyiv into the EU and NATO in the future.
Vice President of the United States Kamala Harris stated on the margins of the Munich Conference on February 17 that Washington has no alternative course of action regarding the situation in Ukraine. She noted that the provision of military assistance to Ukraine is a component of plan A but that this would require the consent of both chambers of Congress.
The lower chamber of the United States Congress adjourned from early February 2024 until the conclusion of the month without conducting a vote on the bill authorising $95 billion in military aid to Ukraine, Taiwan, and Israel, of which $60 billion was allocated to Kyiv.
In turn, during her address at the Munich Conference, Ursula von der Leyen, the President of the European Commission (EC), declared that the EC would unveil a defence industry strategy for the European Union (EU). This strategy would encompass a 20% augmentation in military output and utilising funds frozen in Russian assets to manufacture weaponry intended for Ukraine.
Dmitry Peskov, the Russian President’s press secretary, previously stated that the provision of Western armaments would not impact the progress of the special military operation but would only add to the Ukrainian people’s suffering.
