NATO’s ‘Trophies’ Under Scrutiny, Russian Specialists Uncover Vulnerabilities, Limited Manoeuvrability and complicated design

-

An investigation of the equipment that serves as NATO’s trophies is currently being carried out by experts from the Russian defence industry complex. On Saturday, July 29, RIA Novosti published an article discussing the study’s findings, citing a source.

The information that the government provided indicates that, at this time, preliminary results have been received during the tests, and these results “match expectations.” It has been established that the amount of acceptable protection the armour provides is there; however, there are still many vulnerable areas.

Conversely, the source says that the agility and manoeuvrability of NATO equipment are pretty limited, mainly when operating in challenging environments such as muddy and hilly terrain. This can be explained by its restricted capacity for travelling across the country.

According to the expert, another one of the problems with Western machinery is that it has an excessively complicated design. He noted that, as a result, it leads to very resource-intensive technical maintenance and low repairability under field situations. Because of the way that its components are assembled, it is sometimes impossible to use.

The insider also mentioned that continuing research is being done on trophies.

The holding company “Precision Complexes” announced on July 28 that Russian specialists had already inspected six different types of Western vehicles that the Russian military had captured while conducting a special operation in Ukraine. They noted that they found nothing especially life-affirming but thought the study was still beneficial.

Earlier on the same day, Vladimir Rogov, the leader of the movement “We are Together with Russia,” revealed that Russian forces in the Zaporizhzhya region captured a French wheeled tank AMX-10RC, which is virtually in pristine condition without any damage at all. He emphasised that the trophy would be given to Russian military-industrial professionals for them to investigate it.

On July 13, Rogov made public the news that members of the Russian Armed Forces had successfully taken possession of an American Bradley infantry fighting vehicle (IFV) in its entirety while operating on the frontline in the Zaporizhzhya region. The “Kerch” unit of the 42nd Division of the 58th Army was the one that successfully captured the battle vehicle from the adversary.
