-

The “Kalashnikov” Concern has unveiled a shorter version of the AK-19 rifle chambered for ammunition conforming to NATO standards (5.56mm). The presentation was given to military correspondents while participating in a shooting competition. The 5.45mm AK-12, currently used by the Russian armed forces, served as the basis for creating this weapon. The new rifle has greater accuracy and shooting precision, improved ergonomics, adaptability for usage throughout the day and overall accuracy.

The AK-19 was developed specifically with international purchasers in mind. The weapon’s length has been reduced, resulting in what is known as a compact size. It includes the same modifications that emerged in the third generation of the AK-12 resulting from the experience gained in combat and incorporating those modifications. The company said that the customer had requested that the rifle be outfitted with a suppressor device that would allow for silent firing and a front grip that would allow for more control over the weapon’s rate of fire.

Modernising AK-12

The AK-12 assault rifle is undergoing a modernization process at the manufacturer. Specifically, the company focuses on enhancing the ergonomics and consumer features of various types of weaponry.

On August 7, Kalashnikov’s press release stated that the company was raising the production volume of the AK-12 assault rifle while simultaneously decreasing the labour required to make it. The enterprise’s press office stressed that this particular model of small arms is the concern’s primary offering in the sector of automatic weapons and that it is responsible for more than half of the company’s overall output of arms.
