The United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) stated on November 22, 2023, that an additional delivery of Su-34 frontline bombers had been made following the state defence order to the Russian Ministry of Defence. The aircraft were produced at the V.P. Chkalov-named Novosibirsk Aviation Plant, a subsidiary of the State Corporation Rostec and United Aircraft Corporation. The aircraft underwent a series of successful ground and flight tests.
As per Vladimir Artyakov, the First Deputy General Director of Rostec – the Su-34 frontline bombers are characterised by high manoeuvrability and impressive combat capabilities, allowing them to perform various tasks. Pilots highly appreciate these aircraft, which are actively used in the Aerospace Forces today. The State Corporation Rostec fulfils the deliveries of Su-34 to the troops in full and on time.
Yuri Slyusar, the general director of the United Aircraft Corporation, said – The Novosibirsk plant is one of the important performers of the state defence order within the UAC. Today, the plant has started implementing the program for the next year, the volumes of which will significantly increase. The necessary production reserve has been created. In addition, the plant is busy with the service maintenance and support of the airworthiness of the aviation equipment, which is already in service.
Notably, this is the third batch of Su-34M frontline bombers that the Novosibirsk Aviation Plant delivered to the Russian Aerospace Forces in 2023. The initial shipment was delivered on June 1, and the second on October 9. The bombers dispatched in all batches in 2023 are the last of their kind under the three-year contract between the UAC and the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation, which was finalised in June 2020. The contract called for the development of twenty-four upgraded Su-34M (Su-34NVO) bombers.
In August 2022, according to available information, Russia’s Ministry of Defense concluded a new contract with the UAC to produce additional Su-34M aircraft.
