South Korea’s president has promised to speed up the creation of an anti-drone military unit

-

South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol said today he would speed up the creation of a military unit specialized in combating drones, criticizing the country’s armed forces’ response to North Korean drone infiltration.

Five North Korean drones crossed the border into South Korea yesterday, forcing Seoul to alert fighter jets and attack helicopters to try to shoot them down.

The incident exposed the South Korean military’s lack of training and preparation, although it was not the first such entry of North Korean drones into South Korean airspace, Yoon said.
