Tata’s acti.ev: The Punch That Packs a Powerful EV Future

-

Tata Passenger Electric Mobility (TPEM) unveiled its first sophisticated Pure EV architecture – acti.ev (pronounced active) – on January 5. The acronym acti.ev stands for Advanced Connected Tech-Intelligent Electric Vehicle and will serve as the foundation for future products in the TPEM portfolio. Punch.ev will be the first product based on this Pure Electric Architecture, giving rise to many other models with various body shapes and sizes. Customers can book their Punch.ev starting today by visiting their nearest Tata Motors authorised for EV sales or Tata.ev dealerships and paying only 20,000.

The acti.ev architecture comprises four levels and is based on the essential pillars of Performance, Technology, Modularity, and Space Efficiency.

Layer 1 – Powertrain

acti.ev has a battery pack design that has been improved resulting in a 10% increase in energy density. This battery pack design also provides various range options ranging from 300 km to 600 km. The architecture also provides versatility in selecting the appropriate drivetrain option for the product, such as AWD, RWD, or FWD. acti.ve can support 7.2kW to 11kW onboard chargers for AC fast charging and DC fast charging up to 150kW, allowing you to add 100 km of range in 10 minutes.

Layer 2 – Chassis

The second layer of this architecture may accommodate a variety of body styles, each with a strengthened body structure capable of meeting future GNCAP / BNCAP safety requirements. With a flat floor and no gearbox tunnel, acti.ev maximises cabin space and storage, giving additional space for occupants in the cabin. Its lower centre of gravity contributes to better driving dynamics and handling.

Layer 3 – Electrical Architecture

acti.ev is a scalable future-ready architecture with increased computational power and ADAS level 2 capabilities. The architecture is ready for ADAS L2+ capabilities, ensuring improved safety and navigation standards. Its 5G capability enables enhanced network speeds as well as seamless communication. The architecture will also support vehicle-to-load (V2L) and vehicle-to-vehicle charging (V2V) technology.

Layer 4 – Cloud Architecture

With Arcade.ev, an in-car app suite, this design is based on a future-ready scalable cloud architecture that offers a better user experience. Furthermore, acti.ev has cutting-edge technologies that provide superior connectivity, innovative over-the-air software, and other capabilities.
