Legendary Supermodel Linda Evangelista took to her social media and shared that her cosmetic surgery has permanently deformed her. She said that the cosmetic procedures left her brutally disfigured.
Linda was a famous Canadian Supermodel in the 1990s. She is one of the most accomplished and influential models and has been featured on over 700 magazine covers. But not much has been seen by Evangelista in recent years. On Thursday, Linda Evangelista revealed the reason she disappeared from the public eye. She took to Instagram to share her harrowing experience of cosmetic surgery and why she was hiding from the public.
The legendary Supermodel captioned the post “The Truth, My Story”, where she revealed that she had been left “permanently deformed” following a fat-reduction procedure.
She wrote, Today, I took a big step towards righting a wrong that I have suffered and have kept to myself for over five years. To my followers who have wondered why I have not been working while my peers’ careers have been thriving, the reason is that I was brutally disfigured by ZELTIQ’s CoolSculpting procedure which did the opposite of what it promised. It increased, not decreased, my fat cells and left me permanently deformed even after undergoing two painful, unsuccessful, corrective surgeries. I have been left, as the media has described, “unrecognizable.”
I have developed Paradoxical Adipose Hyperplasia or PAH, a risk of which I was not made aware before I had the procedures. PAH has not only destroyed my livelihood, but it has also sent me into a cycle of deep depression, profound sadness, and the lowest depths of self-loathing. In the process, I have become a recluse.
With this lawsuit, I am moving forward to rid myself of my shame and going public with my story. I’m so tired of living this way. I would like to walk out my door with my head held high, despite not looking like myself any longer.
Linda is regarded as one of the most accomplished and influential models of all time. She is one of the models people look up to. She hasn’t made a public appearance since 2015. Now, it seems like she will not hold back. She has accepted what happened to her, and she is going to move on with it.
Australian designer Alex Perry commented on Evangelista’s post, sending her support.
“Your strength and honesty just made you profoundly more beautiful… You have the world of support, light and love coming to you right now,” Perry wrote.
Actress January Jones also commented to share her support. She wrote, “Love that you are reclaiming your story. The strength and bravery supersedes any superficial outward appearance. An icon is an icon. Always.”
