Indian railways have recently introduced AC 3-tier economy class coaches. This will provide the passengers with better facilities at nominal rates. The coach has been attached to Train No.02403 Prayagraj- Jaipur Express.
The berth capacity has been increased from 72 to 83 in the new AC 3-tier economy coach. The fare structure of this coach is 8% less than the 3AC coach. To begin with, 50 new 3AC Economy coaches are ready to offer services over different zones.
There are several changes in the coach’s design for a passenger-friendly experience. The seats and berths are designed in a way to provide comfort to the passengers and at the same time reduce the weight of the coach.
For passenger convenience, foldable snack tables in both longitudinal and transverse bays are included in the coach. There are individual AC vents for each berth. Injury-free spaces and holders for water bottles and mobile phones have also been added to the new design of the coach. Along with this, individual reading lights and USB charging points are also provided at every berth. In addition, this new ergonomically improved ladder design for accessing the middle and upper berths has been provided. There is an increased headroom in the middle and upper berths.
A new initiative of disabled-friendly toilets for differently-abled people has been made. The entrance of the coach and toilets are improved by adding wheelchair entrances. This will provide ease and comfort to differently-abled people while travelling. The toilet area has been made better by adding both Indian and western styles lavatories.
An aesthetically pleasing and ergonomic entrance has enhanced the ambience of the coach. The interior of the coach has been given a classy touch. It has luminescent aisle markers, illuminated berth indicators integrated with night lights with luminescent berth numbers. The coach comes installed with a Public address and passenger information system.
The safety and security of the passengers are given priority by adding CCTV cameras at every berth also, fire safety has been improved by using the material in compliance with EN45545- 2HL3, which is the global benchmark for fire safety.
