Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has filed an application before a court demanding contempt action against Kamaal R Khan aka KRK. The application on Monday, 7th June, comes after Kamaal’s continuation of making defamatory remarks about Salman despite an undertaking stating to not do so.
Salman Khan already has an ongoing defamation suit filed against Kamaal Khan which seeks to restrain Kamaal from making any content on him, his business ventures and films, and other projects. The issue has been going on for quite a while now.
Initially, the perception was that the defamation suit was filed by Salman khan based on KRK’s comments in his video of his review on Salman’s recently released film ‘Radhe’. Salman’s legal team then issued a statement saying that the said case has nothing to do with the review of the film. The statement reads that the suit against KRK has been filed because he “has been publishing and endorsing defamatory allegations, including that Mr Salman Khan is corrupt, that he and his brand Being Human are involved in fraud, manipulation and money laundering transactions, that he and Salman Khan Films are dacoits.”
Manoj Gadkari, KRK’s advocate, in the last hearing of this defamation suit told the court that his client would not make any further defamatory remarks against Salman Khan till the next hearing.
In the newly filed application on 7th June, Salman’s advocate Pradip Ghandy told Additional Sessions, Judge CV Marathe, that despite the assurance from KRK’s advocate, Kamaal continues to publish defamatory tweets. Gandhy pointed out KRK’s actions being contempt of the court in his argument and proceeded to seek contempt action against Kamaal R Khan in his application.
The court heard the arguments on the application and will be hearing the same on June 11. Until then, the earlier statement made by advocate Manoj Gadkari will continue.
