The Shaurya Chakra awardee Gunjan Saxena is the first ever female Indian Air Force helicopter pilot who went to war and rescued soldiers during the Kargil War in 1999. Her story is now a movie, Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl, and streaming on Netflix August 11th onwards. Janhvi Kapoor plays Gunjan Saxena in the movie.
Produced by Dharma Production and directed by Sharan Sharma, the film will also see Pankaj Tripathi, Angad Bedi, Vineet Kumar Singh and Manav Vij in pivotal roles.
