At Gandhi Chowk in Delhi’s Mohan Garden neighbourhood, two persons were arrested for murder a young man.
On Friday night, the Ranhola Police Station’s control room received a call about the murder. When the police arrived, they discovered a young man lying in a pool of blood.
According to police, the accused killed the boy during an argument while riding in an e-rickshaw.
During the investigation, police discovered that the accused — Lav Kumar alias Piyush, a resident of Mohan Garden’s Sainik Enclave, and his friend Deepak alias Hritik, a resident of Faridkot, Punjab — were returning to Mohan Garden after attending a birthday party in Dwarka and that they boarded an e-rickshaw in which the victim was also seated.
According to authorities, the victim allegedly urged the duo not to use harsh words.
Gopal, an eyewitness who was crossing the Gandhi Chowk area at the time of the incident, told the police that one of the suspects began thrashing the victim at about 11 p.m. Meanwhile, the other accused pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim many times, authorities alleged, before fleeing the scene.
According to authorities, Gopal attempted to stop them and caught Piyush near the scene. The victim was taken to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital right away, but he was declared dead.
Deepak was apprehended after police combed through CCTV material from the surrounding areas. According to authorities, the knife used in the crime has been retrieved.
