BJP has abandoned the Gujarat Model for a New Kashi Model to win the election in 2022 in Uttar Pradesh. The Modi era began in the party with the coming of BJP to the centre in the year 2014. The Gujarat model, the vision document presented before the Lok Sabha elections, also played a unique role in reaching this point. Since the economic development and other claims of the Gujarat Model lay in tatters, BJP is resorting to Hindutva. BJP has now prepared the Kashi model to return to power in UP. A comprehensive plan has been prepared to take this model from door to door in the country and the state. The BJP has announced Chalo Kashi to show the country and the world the glory of Divya Kashi – the grand Kashi.
Along with Ayodhya, the milestones of Kashi and Mathura are also marked on the political roadmap of the Sangh and the BJP. After the decision of the Supreme Court in Ayodhya, the BJP has moved ahead on the agenda of temple construction. At the same time, the foundation of Kashi’s rejuvenation was laid in 2014 when Narendra Modi made it his deed showcase and claimed that Mother Ganga had called me. In Kashi, apart from developing basic facilities like roads, electricity, and water, Modi’s dream project is the Kashi Vishwanath Corridor. The Prime Minister is scheduled to launch it on December 13. With this, an undeclared Kumbh will also start in Kashi, where people from all over the country and worldwide will gather. The BJP plans to create an electoral environment through the Kashi model.
What is Kashi Model?
People will feel the Kashi Vishwanath Temple grandeur as soon as they enter Varanasi, right from Babatpur airport or station to the city and its surrounding area. Even at night, the figure of Baba Vishwanath will be seen emerging in the sky with colourful lights. There is a plan to place Kashi prominently on the religious tourism map of the world. The politically beleaguered Yogi government has also put a lot of emphasis on shaping Modi’s Kashi model.
BJP plans to reach house to house
In Kashi, from December 13 till Makar Sankranti, i.e. January 14, a whole series of programs are being organised by the BJP. The Chief Ministers of BJP ruled states will also be invited. Apart from this, BJP plans to organise separate conferences in the major places of the country for district panchayat presidents, tour operators, industrialists, bloggers, writers, religious scholars, Dalit-Scheduled thinkers, artists, craftsmen, storytellers, artisans, architects and representatives from all the temples of the country. Foreign ambassadors have also been invited. The Good Governance Yatra, Youth Festivals will be organised.
What was Gujarat Model?
BJP had prepared a victory document for the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. This model projected jobs, low inflation, high earnings, the fast growth of the economy, quality education, better security and better life. Since this model has thoroughly failed, BJP has resorted to the only USP – Religion. But has BJP performed better on the religion plank? As per Political analysts, BJP may run on the Hindutva agenda, but its Hindutva development is mixed.
