Bulls from Spain’s famous Miura cattle farm participated in the fast and eventful final run of the San Fermín festival yesterday. The Navarre regional government said six people were treated for minor injuries after yesterday’s run, which lasted just over 2 minutes. The Spanish Red Cross initially reported that two people needed treatment.

The Miura bulls, known for their agility and quick reactions, were close to each other and hardly paid any attention to the runners as they galloped towards the bullring. One participant avoided serious injury when a bull’s horn grazed his head on the right before the man fell to the ground. Many hundred took part in the final eighth run of the festival at 8 pm last night, mainly men, much less than usual. They tested their agility by running in front of 6 fighting bulls and their handler along the 875m course through Pamplona to the city’s bullring. Later in the day, the bulls are killed by experienced bullfighters.

Tens of thousands of people flock to the Pamplona festival, immortalized in 1926 by Ernest Hemingway in his novel ‘The sun also rises’. The festival is also popular because the entertainment lasts 24 hours a day. In 2019, 8 people were gored. It was the last festival before the two-year hiatus due to the COVID pandemic.
