A Railway Romeo and Juliet Story – Manmad-Mumbai Panchavati Express coaches detach midway

On the morning of July 6, the coaches of an express train traveling from the Nashik district to Mumbai were separated at Kasara in Thane. According to a railway official, no passengers were injured in the incident.

Swapnil Nila, the chief public relations officer of Central Railway, reported that the Panchavati Express train, which started its journey from Manmad junction in Nashik district and was en route to Mumbai, experienced the uncoupling at Kasara railway station, a location approximately 128 km from Mumbai.

The incident follows a day after Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw strongly criticized the Congress-led Opposition, indirectly accusing them of fabricating and disseminating false accounts against the Indian Railways on different social media platforms.

The uncoupling occurred during the train’s departure from Kasara station at approximately 8:40 a.m., separating coach numbers four and five. The officials quickly reconnected the coaches, and the train began to travel within 40 minutes.

Nila highlighted that, despite the incident, the coupling mechanism connecting the coaches remained undamaged, allowing the train to depart swiftly for Mumbai.

The connection between the two coaches remained intact. According to him, if the train had not been in good condition, it would not have departed for Mumbai in less than 40 minutes.

Although train uncoupling can result from multiple circumstances, another railway official clarified that this specific incident seemed to have been caused by a violent jolt during acceleration.

Afterward, when the train arrived at Kalyan junction, it experienced a further delay of more than 10 minutes because of a breakdown at the track switching point. The Panchavati Express is known for being a well-liked daily train that links Mumbai with Manmad junction.

The train 12110 Panchvati Express departs from Manmad at 06:10 and arrives in Mumbai at 10:45 on the same day. The journey from the source to the destination is 4 hours and 35 minutes.
